sheet music
Location: Töölönkatu 28 5th floor (reference library) 6th floor (loaning department) The music library consists mainly of material needed for teaching and of the standard repertoire for various instruments. It covers a wide range of Western art music representing different styles and historical eras and is steadily adding to its collection of Finnish and foreign new music. The library has deliberately tried to obtain as much music as possible available only in manuscript form. Much of its sheet music has been donated. The entire history of Finnish music thus exists side-by-side with the very latest publications on the library shelves. | |
The library has a separate collection of teaching material for use in Sibelius Academy classes:
- basic course material for the piano
- collections of etudes for various instruments and orchestral studies
- miniature scores (10-20 per work)
Located in the reading room are the music anthologies (Sib Xa) and the collected works of about 130 composers (Sib Xb), for reference only.
